The property itself—nearly six acres atop a butte—has unobstructed, expansive Teton views and resident wildlife. The five-bedroom home—traditionally constructed of reclaimed and character logs and moss and chuck stone and finished with amenities not often found in Jackson Hole homes—was designed and built for entertaining. Elevated Setting Wild By Nature sits in a mature aspen and pine forest at the end of a cul de sac at 7,000 feet, stretching over nearly six acres towards the top of Indian Springs Butte, a short drive from downtown Jackson in the exclusive gated Indian Springs Ranch area. One of only several properties in Indian Springs at this elevation, the unobstructed views take in not only the entirety of the Teton Range, but also the Snake River plain and several of the area's oldest working cattle ranches in the valley below. (Many of the cattle ranches are protected from future development by conservation easements.) Inspired Architecture Wild By Nature immediately impresses with its thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and detail. Within its 9,000 square feet are both grand spaces perfect for entertaining and also intimate areas. Throughout the open floor plan, cathedral ceilings, wide-plank heart pine and cherry wood floors, character logs, custom iron light fixtures, and precision blacksmithing and masonry work together to make this home unlike other log homes of its scale: as comfortable as it is striking. Balanced Living Spaces Entering from the striking porte-cochere, the glass-paneled front door reveals a Grand Foyer that immediately introduces the home's personality: naturally elegant. From the entrance, open log staircases—one on each side of the entry—wind up to the second-floor landing while, straight ahead, the Great Room's wall of windows frame the Tetons. The foyer also features many custom touches like iron and maple branch railings on the two staircases and, like the rest of the house has ample display space for collectors of fine art or wildlife mounts. Continuing into the Great Room, a moose antler chandelier hangs dramatically from log beams artfully supporting a vaulted cathedral ceiling. Beneath the cathedral ceiling, enjoy a seat in front of the largest of the home's five interior fireplaces or near a wall of windows with unobstructed views of the Tetons. The Great Room's see-through fireplace, set in a surround of moss and Pack City Chuck rock opens to the Dining Room on its backside. Adjacent to the Dining Room is the home's spacious, professional-grade, open Kitchen. Perfect for both small family meals (at an island bar) and large parties (in the dining room), the Kitchen has numerous top-of-the-line touches and components: a walk-in bar/butler's pantry, a Wolf range and oven, copper backsplashes, a EuroCave wine cooler, granite and marble counters with at-the-counter seating, custom knotty alder cabinetry, and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. Between the Great Foyer and the Master Suite, a comfortable Library has built-in shelving and an under counter Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer. Master Suite Occupying the south end of the first floor, the Master Suite is both supremely spacious and cozily comfortable. Features include oversize windows with forest, valley, and Teton views, a wood-burning fireplace set inside a surround of Oklahoma Moss rock, his and hers walk-in closets, a steam shower with a Kohler Mastershower Surround System (which includes nine shower heads), a travertine deep-soaking tub, onyx and marble masonry in the master bath, and a private outdoor shower. An informal sitting area with 270-degrees of wrap-around windows could be used as a second office or a powder room. A door in the steam shower opens to the outside patio and, several feet across the flagstone patio, an infinity hot tub. Sleeping Quarters Wild By Nature has four Guest Suites, two on the first floor and two on the second floor. Each of these has direct access to the outside, whether via a balcony or doors to the landscaped patio. The two Guest Suites on the second floor feel removed from public living areas, yet the hallway connecting them overlooks the Great Room, Kitchen, and Foyer below. Accessed via the two open log staircases rising from the Foyer, the two upstairs suites are connected by a wide-plank heart pine grand hallway with Moss rock accenting its log walls and a custom wrought-iron railing. The four Guest Suites are all roomy and have breathtaking views towards the Tetons, custom wrought-iron lighting, and well-appointed bathrooms. Three of the four suites have propane fireplaces. One upstairs suite has an attached bonus room. Additional Amenities Wild By Nature has several amenities unique among Jackson Hole homes: an outdoor, heated pool; a 12-seat theater; an outdoor shower; and an infinity hot tub. The intimate heated outdoor pool set into the mature aspen and pine forest at the property's northern end is landscaped with Moss rocks for a "hot springs" feel. In the same area, there is also a travertine-tiled steam sauna. Even more intimate than the pool, and with views of the entire Teton Range, is an infinity hot tub set at the southern end of the home's expansive flagstone patio. There is direct access to the hot tub from the Master Bath, passing the outdoor shower, and also from the home's Great Room and the two ground-level Guest Suites. Wild By Nature's fully-finished lower level includes a theater with a projection screen, Surround Sound, and 12 reclining leather seats. Additional technology in the house includes dual co-axial cable and CAT-5e lines "homerun" to every room (with the exception of bathrooms). There are stereo speakers in the Master Bath, Master Suite, Great Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Family Room, and patios. Adjacent to the main house, the fully-finished, heated garage is over-sized to accommodate three cars and includes a work area and also an adjacent travertine-tiled half-bath that is convenient for those using the pool. A mechanical room off the garage houses oil-fired boilers, which fuel the home's radiant in-floor heat. Indian Springs Ranch Ideally situated between Teton Village and downtown Jackson, Indian Springs Ranch has placed nearly half of its 1,200 acres under conservation easements. This ensures the development's major view sheds remain open for perpetuity—Indian Springs has some of the valley's best Teton views—and also that Homeowners here always have wild neighbors—swans, moose, elk, eagles, and osprey are all frequently sighted around the development. Despite Indian Springs' privacy and sense of being far-removed, conveniences are close-by. The art galleries and restaurants of downtown Jackson are a 10-minute drive. Teton Village and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR), which has invested upwards of $100 million in on-mountain improvements in the last decade and is consistently one of the country's highest-rated ski resorts, is a 15-minute drive. Wyoming Lifestyle When Wyomingites talk about ties, it's generally in reference to fly-fishing. That's just one of the reasons our state and its 550,000 residents are the second happiest in the country according to a recent Gallup-Healthways Well-Being poll. (Hawaii residents were the country's happiest, but only by a small margin.) There's one area in which no state ranks ahead of Wyoming: tax friendliness. For years Bloomberg Wealth Manager Magazine has rated Wyoming the nation's most tax-friendly state. Wyoming has no individual income tax, no inheritance tax, no state tax on retirement income earned and received from another state, no state gift taxes, no state capital gains tax, and no personal property tax on property held for personal use. Wyoming also has some of the best asset protection laws of any state in the country and has effectively done away with the rule against perpetuities. Wyoming allows a trust to be established that can continue for up to 1,000 years. Talk about looking out for your future generations! Despite its tax-friendliness to both individuals and businesses, Wyoming often has an annual state budget surplus approaching $1 billion. And then there's the state's wide open spaces. With the smallest population of any state and the ninth largest area, congestion is unknown, unless you get stuck behind a herd of buffalo. While much of the state is rural, Jackson Hole itself enjoys sophisticated restaurants, a summer symphony orchestra, dozens of art galleries, world-class skiing, close proximity to two national parks, 270-some days of annual sunshine, and a friendly, engaging community that supports over 300 non-profits.
